Obituary of Calvin Lee Heimbouch

Calvin Lee Heimbouch, 86, of Greeley, Colorado, passed away on March 27, 2023. He was born on September 23, 1936, in Mitchell, Nebraska, to Jake and Martha(Rau)Heimbouch. He grew up on a farm in Mitchell where he loved the quaint small-town life. Calvin never stopped talking about his childhood memories and friends.

 

Calvin married Marilyn Helzer on February 3, 1957. They worked together on a farming operation in Morrill, Nebraska, while raising three girls. Traveling was one of the many things they enjoyed doing together. Calvin loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 

While farming in Morrill, Calvin also had a feed yard with cattle and lambs. He later opened a Farm, Home and Ranch Supply Store (Heim-Mick) in Mitchell, Nebraska. While operating Heim-Mick He started an Auction House and was the Auctioneer. Calvin later became employed with Pioneer Hi-Bred in the microbial division. He loved traveling to feed yards in the Western Nebraska and Colorado area. In October 1986 he and Marilyn moved to Greeley, Colorado. In 2003 he retired from Pioneer.  

 

Calvin is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marilyn (Helzer) Heimbouch; daughters and sons-in-laws: Rhonda and James Healy, Kathleen and Michael Tschacher, and Tamara and Thomas Rhoads; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; brother, Royce Heimbouch; and Sister Sandra Sauer. 

 

Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Lucille (Heimbouch) Baum, Melvin Heimbouch, Gary Heimbouch, and Norman Heimbouch. 

 

Calvin was involved in the Jaycees and Nebraska Young Farmers Association. He loved his wife, Marilyn, who was his soulmate. They lovingly took care of one another over the years. He was active in his grandchildren's school activities and events. He loved gardening, cooking, and family. Calvin touched many lives. He never met a stranger! He will be missed by many.
