Obituary of Constance L. Karr

Constance "Connie” Lenore Karr, 93, of Greeley, Colorado passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 15th, 2021, at Pathways Hospice in care and dignity and with family by her side. The youngest of nine, Connie was born on March 28th, 1928, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to Joseph and Mary Belleau. After graduating from Loretto Catholic High School, she met and later married her husband, Harry George Karr, on January 13th, 1951. Harry and Connie lived in cities throughout Michigan, New Jersey, and New York before moving to Greeley with their eight children in 1968 after Harry retired from the US Coast Guard. They lived and raised their children in Greeley for the remainder of their years together until Harry passed on April 24th, 2003. Connie was a devoted mother to eight children and a loving grandmother to thirteen grandchildren and great grandmother to ten great grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church for 53 years, where she also sang in the choir. She traveled to Lourdes, France with church friends, where she was glad to be able to practice some of the French she grew up speaking with her French Canadian father. Connie was a talented bowler and bowled competitively with Harry for many years—a hobby she continued until she was 90. She and Harry also enjoyed camping and fishing, particularly when she was able to travel to the Pacific Northwest to see her daughters and explore the great outdoors. She also enjoyed gardening, canning home-grown vegetables, and was an avid crossword puzzle solver and People magazine reader. Connie was a friend to many in her community and maintained close relationships with her siblings and family in Michigan long after she moved to Colorado. She is survived by four sons and two daughters: Leanne Turner (Jim), Roger Karr (Faye), Robbie Wittstock (Steve), Kevin Karr (Charlene), Dean Karr (Lori), and Ron Karr, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Connie was preceded in death by husband Harry, two sons Dwayne and David, a grandson, and a great granddaughter.
