Obituary of Herbert J. Hoffner

Herbert Jerry Hoffner, 77, passed away on December 21, 2021 at his home in Greeley. He was born January 30, 1944, to Fred and Katie (Kaiser) Hoffner in Greeley. Jerry spent his younger years growing up in Gill, Co and later moved to Greeley with his parents where he attended Greeley High School. In 1963, he married Paulette Baker and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, and was stationed at Luke Air Force base in Glendale, Arizona where he was an aircraft mechanic on the F100. While in the service he traveled to Korea and Japan and he spoke fondly of those days. He had a great memory of the planes he serviced and kept track where they were located. After leaving the Air Force, Jerry and his family moved back to Greeley where he worked in sales over the years including Garnsey Wheeler, Pepsi, Hoffner Wholesale Meats, Montgomery Ward, Fred Schmidt and Maytag. Jerry worked in the appliance business until his retirement. He enjoyed horseshoes, pool and his friends at the VFW. He was a grandfather and great grandfather and he was a fan of the Broncos, Nuggets and the Rockies. He is survived by his brother Donald Hoffner of Greeley, daughters, Karen Johnson (Mike) of Windsor, Pam Schuler (Larry) of Coto de Caza, CA and Jean Hembree (Travis) of Greeley. He had 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, James Hoffner, Kenneth Hoffner, Bob Hoffner and his sister Harriet Lehr. Military honors burial service will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver at 9:15AM on December 31, 2021. A Celebration of Life Open House, where all family and friends are welcome will be held on Thursday, December 30th from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Lighthouse Point Clubhouse, located at Montauk Lane in Windsor 80550.
