Obituary of Abel Rodriguez Torres

Abel Rodriguez Torres, 79, of Brighton, passed away on January 6, 2022 in Greeley, Colorado. He was born to Jose and Lucrecia (Torres) Rodriguez on April 27, 1942 in Mexico. Abel moved to the United States in 1969 where he settled in Colorado. He was an avid fisherman and loved going up to the Colorado mountains for hiking and fishing. He was an amazing gardener and had an even more amazing back yard, where he grew green chile, corn and watermelons. He loved being outside, walking 5 miles a day and competing in the Turkey Trot was his joy. He loved and adored his family. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him and loved him. Abel is survived by his children, Pacomio (Nancy) Sanchez, Irene Medina, Ana (Manuel) Montano, Fay (Joe) Vasquez and Franky Sanchez; siblings, Florita Valdez, Pedro (Maria) Rodriguez, Chon (Marina) Rodriguez, Tina (Modesto) Vargas, Fili Rodriguez, Gabriel (Velia) Rodriguez, Libby Treinen, Martha Nores, Jose Ignacio (Teresa) Rodriguez, Tony (Rosa) Rodriguez, Jose T. (Carmen) Rodriguez, Jorge (Rosario) Rodriguez, Abel Vargas and Nelly Rodriguez. He also has many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wife, Maria Rose and children, Brenda, Elaine and Matt. Due to the love that Abel had for gardening; in lieu of flowers, family will happily accept plants to remember him by.
