Obituary of Mary Ann Tapey
Mary Ann Tapey age 79 passed away Thursday, January 6th at Grace Pointe in Greeley, Colorado. Mary
Ann was born November 27, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois to Jesse W. Hall and Charlotte (Bostwick) Hall. A
reason for giving thanks. She loved to travel and carried on this love throughout the years. It started
when she and her cousin, Sally, traveled unaccompanied to New Orleans when they were in high school.
That love for traveling also brought her to the small mining town of Leadville, Colorado where she
worked as a teacher until she retired. In Leadville, the most sweetest and most supportive woman met
her husband, Cecil. Together, their summer breaks took them to Alaska, travel across the Southwest,
and to historic sites and their families’ ancestral homes along the East Coast. While in Leadville, their
son was born—Matthew Aaron Tapey. Mary Ann is survived by her husband Cecil, son Matthew, his
partnerNico Cavalucci, grandchild Mos Tapey, brother John Warren Hall, sister-in-law Lynn, Niece
Amber and nephew Scott. She was preceded by her parents, Jesse & Charlotte Hall. Mary Ann and Cecil
have been married for 58 wonderful years and she was so special that it is difficult to picture a world
without her. Mary Ann wrote in her Christmas letter "I know where I am going and not afraid of dying.
You will always have my heart and love.”
Services will be held at a later date. Donations to cancer society; Alzheimer’s Association, Weld County
Food Bank, or a charity of your choosing. She is loved and missed by her family, friends, colleagues, and
the untold number of children she has taught through the years.
