Obituary of Susan Reed McAleese

Susan Reed McAleese, 65, of Greeley, Colorado passed away peacefully on February 19, 2022 at the Northern Colorado Medical Center. She was born on June 12,1956 in Augusta, Georgia to Glenn and Frances (Boyle) Reed, and grew up in Aiken, SC.

Susan attended St. Mary's Elementary School and graduated from St. Angela's Academy in Aiken. She received a BS from Furman University and a Masters Degree in Biology from the University of South Carolina. A proud accomplishment for Susan was being published in the journal Science.

Susan loved her family, parents, children and grandchildren dearly. Her caring and kind disposition made everyone feel welcomed and at home. She spent her days enjoying Steven King novels, listening to the Beatles (she always had a soft spot for Paul McCartney), having sleepovers with her grandchildren, and cross stitching. She absolutely loved the beach, and two of her favorites were Myrtle Beach and Edisto Island in South Carolina.  She shared her wisdom, comfort and love with all who crossed her path.

Susan is survived by her children, Jinny (Adam) Jensen of Greeley and Stuart McAleese (Anneni Rios) of Carrizo Springs, Texas; her grandchildren Marina (Andreasen), Cambria (Jensen), Gabriel (Jensen), Catie (Andrews) and Jackson (Andrews); and her brothers Glenn Reed, Jr. of Raleigh, NC and Rusty Reed of Columbia, SC. She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Katie Lee McAleese.

Funeral services with family and friends will be held at Adamson Life Celebration Home with a reception to follow. Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
