Obituary of Norbert Edward Badding

Norbert Badding, 88, of Evans, Colorado passed away March 16th, 2022, in Greeley CO surrounded by his loved ones.  He was born on the family farm July 1st, 1933, to Frank Badding and Andreina (Ferrero) Badding in Adams County, Colorado.  Norbert grew up on the Badding Dairy Farm where he milked the cows, bottle the milk, and delivered the product to their customers. In 1945 he suffered severe burns from a fire in the milk house and endured the scars all his life.  He attended and graduated from Assumption Catholic High School in 1951. As a young man, he was active in the Knights of Columbus along with his father and four brothers.  On October 1st, 1955, he married his first wife Earline Arneson.  Norbert and Earline had four children together. They built a house and raised their kids on a plot of land from the original dairy farm.  He was the leader of the neighborhood 4-H Club, where he taught leather craft and how to run meetings influencing a lot of young minds.  In 1975, Norbert and Earline moved their family to small farm in Longmont. They then divorced. On March 22nd, 1980, Norbert married his second wife, Cecily Moen.  Soon after Norbert and Cecily had a son and a few years later, a daughter. Norbert started Badding Business Forms and Specialty Advertising.  In 1983 Norbert and Cecily bought their motel business in Nebraska. The family of four moved to Nebraska a year after, in 1984, and raised their two children there. He was involved with the Dawes County Tourism Board, Hudson-Meng Education and Research Center and Crawford Chamber of Commerce. The couple decided to move to Evans, Colorado in 2002 to be near their family. Norbert and Cecily made their home in Evans, and the couple has been there ever since.

Norbert was a believer, being gloriously saved in 1987 at Christ Community Church in Crawford, a follower of Jesus Christ and was also a member of Journey Christian Church of Greeley. His joy was the Service Team at church.

Norbert was a tender hearted man that so many people loved.  There wasn’t a person he met that he didn’t treat like family. He was genuine and that was so rare that we all feel the precious value he brought to so many. The love of Christ was seen and felt. He lived a Godly life.  Above all, Norbert had the biggest heart around. He loved and craved camaraderie and spending time with his family and friends.

Norbert is survived by his loving wife of 42 years this month, Cecily Badding, his children; Norbert Earl Badding and his wife Juline of Colorado, Christopher Badding and his wife Terren of Colorado, Marianne Oskarson of Colorado, Tricia Hergenreder of Colorado, Aaron Badding and his wife Lisa of Arizona, and Sarah Selby and her husband Adam of Colorado, his 16 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, his sister Margaret Humann, his brother Edward Badding, and numerous other adopted family members he’d met along the way.

He is preceded in death by his parents Frank Badding and Andreina Badding, his siblings; Sylvester Badding, Joseph Badding, Francis Badding, Marie Guiles, and Genevieve Fury, and his sons-in-law Darrell Oskarson and Jerry Hergenreder.
