Obituary of Murray Dean Lounsberry

Murray Dean Lounsberry, 74, of Greeley, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at his home.  He was born August 5, 1947 in Ames, Iowa to Frank and Marguerite (Illian) Lounsberry.  Murray grew up in Nevada, Iowa and graduated from Nevada High School in 1965.  He attended Drake University for a year and finished his college career at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa in 1969, receiving his Bachelor’s degree in History.  On August 12, 1972 he married Monica Biancucci in Webster, New York.

Murray worked as a teacher in Independence, Iowa teaching History, Government, and Economics for 4 years until they moved to Colorado in 1973.  In 1978, they moved to Greeley and he began his 25 year career with Burlington Northern Railroad.  He also worked as a substitute teacher for Greeley Schools.

He was a history buff and made history come alive!  He enjoyed collecting antiques, especially license plates and collecting military memorabilia.  He was into cool cars and Elvis!  He was a hard worker and enjoyed gardening and landscaping.

He is survived by his wife Monica Lounsberry of Greeley; his sons, Macoy Lounsberry and wife Casey of Denver and Cody Lounsberry and wife Tanya of Westminster; grandchildren, Tinsley of Denver and Dylan and Lydia of Westminster; and sister Karen Grandstrand of Maple Plain, Minnesota.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Sandra and Connie.

He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.

A Life Celebration will be held at 2:00p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Adamson Life Celebration Home.  Cremation will take place.
