Obituary of Mildred Irene Ewald
Mildred Irene Ewald, 94, of Longmont, CO, passed away peacefully on April 20th, 2022, in the care of Tru Community Care Hospice at the Longmont United Hospital. She was born October 20th, 1927, to Gerd and Gretje Stevens in Filley, Nebraska. She was baptized and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in rural Beatrice, NE. On June 24th, 1951, Mildred married Richard J. Ewald. The couple lived in Beatrice, NE until 1957 when they moved to Greeley, CO. Throughout her lifetime, Mildred worked as a nurse’s aide, attended beauty school, and became a Beautician, and most importantly, an exceptional homemaker.
Mildred had many interests. She was a woman of sincere faith who loved the Lord Jesus Christ. She enjoyed gardening, both vegetables and flowers, playing card games, reading many books, and camping with her husband in their RV. She was a talented cook, and an exceptional baker. She was also quite gifted when it came to sewing. She’d make her own dresses, and all kinds of clothing for her children. Above all, she cherished her family and the time they spent together.
She was a 4H leader, a member of the Good Sam’s RV Club, and a devoted member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, and Trinity Lutheran Church.
Mildred is survived by the love of her life for more than 70 years, Richard J. Ewald, her children; Ronald Lee Ewald (Laura) of Cheyenne, WY, Janet Marie Bochinski (Mark) of Monument, CO, Keith John Ewald (Zita) of Longmont, CO, Lori Louise Binns (Geoff) of Centennial, CO, her grandchildren; Adam and Kira Bochinski, her great grandchildren Ashton and Korbin, and her sister Irene Folkerts.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Gerd and Gretje Stevens, and her siblings; Marie Ideus, Abbie DeBuhr, Tena Busboom, Gertrude Jurgens, Lammert Frerichs, Ehme Stevens, and Irvin Stevens.
A visitation will take place from 4-7pm Tuesday, April 26th, 2022, at Adamson Life Celebration Home. A Life Celebration will take place 11am Wednesday, April 27th, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made out to Trinity Lutheran School and Pre-school, in care of Adamson Life Celebration Home, 2000 W 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634.
