Obituary of Michael Anthony Chacon

Michael Anthony Chacon, 34, of Greeley, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2022 at his home in Greeley.  He was born March 20, 1988 to John Chacon, Jr. and Tammy Marie (Smith) Chacon in Greeley. He grew up in Greeley and graduated from Northridge High School in 2006.  He attended Nebraska Wesleyan University and played on their football team. He belonged to the Zeta Psi fraternity - Omicron Chapter. He returned to Greeley and finished his Bachelor's Degree in Sports Exercise Science at the University of Northern Colorado.

Michael worked at Soderburg Roofing for the past few years. He had jobs in sales and food service, but his goal was always to make people happy.  His heart was in coaching.  He was an assistant football coach for the Northridge Grizzlies (where he also played high school football) and the University Bulldogs.  He  was also an assistant coach at the college level at the University of Northern Colorado and Black Hills State University.  He was a member of the Greeley Chamber of Commerce and had been chosen to be an inaugural member of the Northern Colorado Young Professional Leadership Council. He was involved in various networking groups including 4BR where he served on the board.  Michael enjoyed crossfit, country dancing and was a Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan.

He is survived by his parents; John Chacon, Jr. of Greeley and Tammy Hermance of Greeley; his siblings, Natalie Thill and husband Nathan of Greeley, Nikki Cole and husband Cody of Las Vegas, New Mexico, and James Hermance, III of Greeley; his nephews, Christopher and Justin Thill of Greeley and Easton and Evan Cole of Las Vegas, New Mexico; and his grandparents, John Chacon, Sr. of Greeley and Janet Smith of Greeley.  Michael was preceded by his grandfather, Robert Dean Smith; grandmother, Mary Chacon; and his Niece, Brooklyn Thill.

A visitation will be Thursday, May 5, 2022 from 5:00pm-6:00pm, followed by the Recitation of the Rosary at 6:00pm at Adamson Life Celebration Home.  Life Celebration 11:00 am, Friday, May 6, 2022 at Journey Christian Church.  Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.  Memorial contributions may be made to Grizzly Football Booster Club  in care of Adamson Life Celebration Home, 2000 W. 47^th Ave., Greeley, CO  80634.
