Obituary of Lowetta Mae Cain

Lowetta Mae Cain was born on August 16th, 1916, to David and Lowetta (Peterson) Neuschwanger at Rulton Kansas. Lowetta passed away peacefully with family by her side in Greeley, Colorado on June 10th, 2022.  

She came to Colorado with her family at the age of 18 months old.  Lowetta grew up on a farm north of Eckley Colorado, attened Barnes Country School and Eckley high school. On April 1st, 1936, she married Wayne H. Cain at Wray Colorado.

 

After marriage she was a telephone operator at the Eckley telephone company for five years. She lived on farms in the Eckley area for 10 years, lived in Yuma Colorado 1956-1959 and in Fort Lupton in 1959-1962. She moved to Greeley in May 1962 and operated a rooming house for college students for 8 years. She retired in January 1980, after working 17 years in food service at the university of Northern Colorado.

Survivors are her son Donald Cain and wife Marie of Alburgerque New Mexico and daughter Carolyn Hamler of Greeley Colorado. Also, a sister named Eileen Saport of Boulder Colorado, two step grandchildren, Michael Bush (his children Conner of Costa Mesa CA, Toby of Estes Park CO, and Lillian of Indianapolis IN. As well as Suzanne Huckabay and husband Brent (children Grant and Gretchen of Texas and Gabe of Dallas TX). She is also survived by nine great-great grandchildren.

 

Lowetta is preceded in death by her parents, her husband who died in 1991, an infant sister, Gladys, and five brothers, Lawrence, Melvin, Marion, Reed, & Alvin Neuschwanger. As well as son in law Harold Hamler who passed away in 2003, also many special nieces and nephews.

A Life Celebration Service will be held at Adamson Life Celebration Home on Thursday June 16th, 2022, at 10:00 AM, with a reception to follow at 11:00 AM at Adamson Life Celebration Home’s reception hall. The burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens at 1:00 PM.
