Obituary of Aaron Edward Martin

Aaron Edward Martin (May 18, 1971 — May 31, 2022)

Aaron was born May 18, 1971 in Denver, Colorado, the second of three sons of Nelson Edward and Jean Leanani “Nani” (Swearingen) Martin. He grew up in Johnstown, Colorado and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1989. He attended Adams State College, Metro State College, and Regis University, where he studied drafting and engineering.

He married the former Debbie Stieb in 1994. They had two daughters, Mikayla and Jordan.

Aaron lived the last several years of his life in Colorado Springs, Colorado after surviving a traumatic brain injury in 2007.

Aaron was passionate about basketball and played at both Roosevelt (where he was part of the Rough Riders' state runner-up team his senior year) and Adams State.

He served as a volunteer firefighter, EMT, and first responder with the Johnstown Fire Department. He had a special love for Colorado's San Luis Valley and was close to many members of his Dad's family who lived there.

Aaron was instantly recognizable for his luxurious dark mullet, his impressive mustache, his ever-present mischievous grin, and his tattoos of Mickey Mouse and his daughters' names. At any given moment, he was equally likely to say something amusingly irreverent or deceptively insightful. It was rare to find him without a cup of coffee in hand.

Aaron is an organ and tissue donor. Through his loss, numerous people will enjoy a better quality of life.

Aaron was preceded in death by his grandparents and by his mother, Nani Martin. He is survived by his father Nelson, his brothers Michael (Nancy) and Sam (Kendra), his daughters Mikayla (Robbie) and Jordan, his grandsons Kellan and Cree, his nieces Rylee and Sophia, his nephews Korbin and Samuel, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Aaron also leaves behind numerous friends in northern Colorado.  The family will host private services to be held at a later date.  Friends may leave condolences at AdamsonCares.com.
