Obituary of Gene Harris

Clarence Eugene “Gene” Harris, 70, of Greeley, CO passed away at his home on Friday, July 29, 2022.  He was born March 6, 1952 in Mansfield, Ohio to Clarence Ogilvia and Rose Marie (Fanello) Harris and grew up in Shiloh, Ohio where he loved the quaint life of the small town. He never stopped talking about his childhood memories and friends.

Gene married Elizabeth Green Tevis on January 6, 2013. 

Gene loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  Gene was a crane operator for over 52 years, starting at the age of 17 for Kenny Fishbaugh in Ohio and ending with RMS Cranes of Windsor, Colorado.

Gene is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Green Tevis-Harris; his mother, Rose Marie Fanello Harris;  son, Michael (Kumiko) Harris; daughter, Leslie (Alex) Badin; stepdaughters, Scarlet (Brenden) Niezgoda, Anissa (Michael) Tevis; 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, siblings; Carol Harris, Dave (Peggy) Harris, John (Dawn) Harris, Elizabeth (Zac) Pirillo, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and his beloved dog, Ginger.

Gene was preceded in death by his father, Clarence O. “Joe” Harris, grandparents Fanello and Iceman, aunts, uncles, and his beloved dog, Daisy.

Gene was a loving man. He loved his wife, Liz who was his soulmate and they completed one another. He touched so many lives and taught many things to many individuals.  He will be missed by many.  He loved making homemade ice cream for everyone and flying his airplanes.  He also loved being a sprint car driver. Even when he wasn’t racing, he loved attending as many races as he could.  Gene was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers since 1979.

Gene’s family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Adamson Life Celebration Home, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634.   The funeral service will be held at 12’noon Saturday, August 6th at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bolivar, Ohio with calling hours one hour before.  A luncheon will follow. The burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 8, 2022 at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh, Ohio.
