Obituary of Edward James Rutt Sr.

Edward James Rutt Sr., age 82 passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on August 15, 2022.  Ed was born April 6, 1940, and spent his entire life in Northern Colorado.  After high school, Ed served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was recognized as a top marksman.  He married the love of his life in 1961 and they spent the next 60 plus years on an incredible journey.  Ed was a respected business owner in Northern Colorado—industrial supply companies, Rocky Mtn. Bearing, Inc. and Rocky Mtn. Supply, Inc.; and an oil and gas company—Energy Oil Inc. He was a friend and mentor to so many people in his life and he will be missed by many.

“A husband, father and grandfather like you is rare, one that is so generous, smart and kind.  You were someone that everyone needed and wanted to be around, best husband, father, grandfather, father figure, boss, and friend.   Nothing or no one can replace someone like you.  Heaven is lucky to have someone like you.  But know that you will always be a part of our lives and will always be in our hearts.” 

Ed is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Norma (Pugs); along with his three children, Veronica (Roni) Rutt, Jeannie Rutt Boltz, and Eddie Rutt Jr.; and three loving grandchildren, Dustin Rutt, Desirae Lowe, and Ethan Boltz.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Peter J. Rutt Jr and Mary Schoen Rutt; his sisters, Alice Applegate and Shirley Rosenbrock; and his brother, Peter J Rutt III.  We all loved and adored him and will miss hearing him say “all be darn.” 

A special thank you to the people at Banner Hospice of Northern Colorado for their loving care and support during his final days.  Also, the family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude towards Adamson Life Celebration Home for being very accommodating and understanding during this difficult time.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm at the Adamson Life Celebration Home in Greeley, Colorado on August 25, 2022.  Memorial donations may be made to the Banner Hospice of Northern Colorado, 5628 19^th Street, Suite 2, Greeley, CO 80634.
