Obituary of Donna Lee Straight

Donna Lee Straight, 87, of Greeley passed away August 21, 2022.  She was born January 20, 1935 in Greeley to Jake and Ida (Rau) Krieger, her father a Volga German from Russia.  At the age of two, the family moved to Kuner where Donna attended school and she graduated from Greeley High School in 1953. 

After graduating, she started working for Greeley National Bank.  She married Walter Glenn Straight on May 7, 1955 at St. Paul’s Congregational Church in Greeley. 

They moved to Casper, WY and she became Vice-President of Operations at Wyoming National Bank before retiring in 1997.  She moved back to Colorado in 2001, living with her daughter Linda and family in Johnstown. 

She enjoyed crafting, sewing, craft fairs, ceramics and could always be found in her sewing room, creating something. 

Donna was a member of the Red Hat Society, Milliken and Johnstown Seniors, St. Paul’s Congregational Church and First Church of the Nazarene and National Association of Bank Women (NABW). 

Survivors include her daughters; Linda (Jake) Vigil and Karie Lockhart, three grandchildren; Shawn, Jeremy and Dusty, six great-grandchildren; Aniston, Aubrey, Austin, Luke, Seth and Hailey as well as her sister, Mary Lou Jakel, nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her siblings; Harry Krieger and Betty Ball.

Donna’s Life Celebration will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 29, 2022 at Adamson with a reception to follow.  Memorial gifts may be made to “Bristol Hospice” or “Weld County Humane Society” in care of Adamson, 2000 47^th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634.  Friends may leave condolences at AdamsonCares.com.
