Obituary of Benerito Marquez

Our dear father, Benerito A. Marquez sadly passed away on September 1, 2022, at the age of 74

in Greeley, CO, surrounded by his family who will continue to honor his legacy by carrying on

his strength, humility, and gentleness.

 

Ben was born in Denver, CO on October 15, 1947. He graduated from Denver North at the age

of 17 and immediately enlisted in the Marine Corps. After returning home from his two tours in

Vietnam, he met his life-long best friend and wife of 54 years, Susie Marquez (Duron). They

were married on January 11, 1969, in Fort Collins, Colorado. Ben finished his career with the

Marine Corps in Twentynine Palms, California. He and Susie then relocated back to Fort Collins,

Colorado where they raised their five children.

 

Ben had a lifelong career as a union member in the natural gas distribution industry where he

instilled the passion for the profession into his children. He was also a pastor throughout the

years had several hobbies including fly fishing and camping, which he enjoyed doing with his

family. He also loved watching and talking about football. Ben enjoyed spending time outside

with his wife, drinking a cup of coffee and watching the sunrises together.

 

Ben was a father, son, brother, grandfather, and friend. He meant everything to everyone! Ben

is preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife, Susie, children, Ben, Gabe

(Leeann), Paul, Zeke (Melissa) and Monica (Cornelo), two brothers, three sisters, his mother,

twenty-two grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren and many more extended family.

 

He lived his life as "Once a Marine Always a Marine"

 

The Life Celebration Service will be held at Adamson Life Celebration Home (2000, 47th Ave. Greeley, CO 80634) on Saturday, September 17th at 2:00 PM with a reception following in the reception hall.
