Obituary of Agustin Zuniga

Agustin “Tino” Zuniga, 65, of Milliken, CO, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 20th, 2022, in Loveland, CO. He was born on July 30th, 1957, to Agustin Zuniga and Juana Gomez in Durango, Mexico

Agustin grew up in Mexico until the age of 15 when he moved to Milliken, CO. In 1974, Agustin attended a softball game where he saw Maria playing for one of the teams, and the two were introduced. The pair began dating sometime after that first encounter, and on November 27th, 1976, Agustin and Maria were married in Greeley, CO.

Agustin was a devoted member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Johnstown.  He  was a hard worker and worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a laborer for 39 years.  Everyone who knew Agustin or worked with him felt his big heart and giving nature. Coworkers described him as a special, family man who worked very hard to provide for his family. He was a generous soul who frequently volunteered for different community activities, for the local food bank, and the Milliken Police Department. He was always eager to step up and help anywhere he could.

He enjoyed watching all of the Colorado sports, and especially the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rockies.  But mostly, he enjoyed watching his kids and their children play sports. “Papa” was sure to be in the crowd cheering on his grandchildren at all of their activities: baseball, basketball, soccer, football, volleyball, and swimming. You could always find Agustin taking his daily 4 mile walks or riding his bike around town as he was very active.  Agustin took pride in his beautiful yard and his woodworking projects, many of which he gifted to family and friends. Also, he was quite the jokester, a trait that was passed down to his family. He was a man who always had a smile on his face and would always make everyone laugh, even in tough situations. Above all, Agustin loved and cherished the time he spent with his family, whether it was at a backyard BBQ, enjoying a family dinner at a restaurant, or relaxing at a lake.  He was a very honorable man who leaves a wonderful legacy behind in his children and his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife Maria Zuniga of Milliken, his children; Omar Zuniga and his wife Karin of Firestone, Richard Zuniga and his wife Monica of Fort Lupton, and Naomi Zuniga and her husband Lino Garza of Johnstown, his adored grandchildren; Isabelle, Abby, Alex, Javian, Amoraya, Yolina, Maximiliano, and Angela, his siblings; Maria Zuniga Calvillo and her husband Luis of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Leticia Avalos of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Juan Zuniga and his wife Catalina of Tulsa, OK; and countless friends and extended family whose lives he touched.

Agustin is preceded in death by his son Jose Carlos, his parents Agustin Zuniga and Juana Gomez, his parents-in-laws Jose Elijio Lopez and Olga F. Lopez, and his brother Lalito Zuniga.
