Obituary of Roland LeRoy Loper

Roland LeRoy Loper, 81, of Evans passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on Saturday, October 22, 2022 with the Lord by his side.  In the days and weeks prior to his passing, Roland had been surrounded by his loving family, friends and caregivers.  He was born on August 1, 1941 in Burke, South Dakota as an only child to Avery and Frances (Jensen) Loper. 

Roland served in the US Navy during the Vietnam Conflict before an Honorable Discharge.  On June 8, 1968 he married Rosemary Elaine Miiller in Mitchell, SD.  In his younger years he was a cattle breeder.  In 1970, they moved to Colorado with their daughter, Barbara a few months before their son, Brian was born to join Monfort Feedlots in Gilcrest, CO.  He worked for Monfort and its successors until retiring in 2006.  He primarily checked pens and drove the feed truck, but his love was working with the farmers during corn harvest. 

Roland served as a volunteer firefighter for Platteville-Gilcrest Fire in the 1970’s and as a Wrangler with the Greeley Stampede.  He loved the Denver Broncos and attending rodeos, especially the annual Grover Rodeo.  They are members of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.

Roland is survived by his loving wife, Rosemary of 54 years, his two children; Barbara (David) Hancher and Brian (Kimberly), three granddaughters; Gabrielle, Jordan and Kayla and a grandson, Jarrod. 

He was preceded by his parents. 

A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Monday, November 7, 2022 at Adamson.  Roland’s Life Celebration will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.  A reception will follow the graveside back at the church.  Memorial gifts may be made to “Our Savior’s Lutheran Church” or “Valley FFA” in care of Adamson, 2000 47^th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634.  Friends may leave condolences at AdamsonCares.com.
