Obituary of Fred C. Birdwell

Fred C. Birdwell, 76, of Evans, Colorado, passed away October 22, 2022, at UC Health in Greeley due to a short illness. Fred was born July 14, 1946, in Farmington, New Mexico to Joseph and Mary (Anthony) Birdwell. He spent his childhood years in Farmington where he graduated from high school. Fred served in the United States Air Force from 1965-1969 graduating from flight school.  During his time in service, he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan and Las Vegas, Nevada where he worked on the F-111 and F- 4.

On April 20, 1968, he married Vicki McNatt in Farmington, New Mexico and went on to have two sons, Robert and Darren. Fred worked in the oil and gas industry for much of his career and retired as a Pipeline Supervisor from Anadarko. He enjoyed the outdoors which included bowhunting and fishing, working with his hands, and spending time with family and friends. He was a long-time member of Westview Church of Christ and the Greeley Archers. Fred will always be remembered for his good humor, storytelling, and orneriness.

Fred is survived by his wife Vicki of Greeley; his sons, Robert Birdwell and wife Sheri of Berthoud and Darren Birdwell and wife Ann of Boise, Idaho; his grandson, Sean Birdwell of Berthoud; and his brother Archie Birdwell and wife Jo of Mesa, Arizona along with many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Sylvia Mills, Leon Birdwell and Bobby Birdwell.

A Life Celebration will be held 11:00a.m., Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Westview Church of Christ.
