Obituary of Darla D. Chmiel

Darla D. Chmiel, 63, of Greeley, passed away Monday, December 26, 2022 at Medical Center of the Rockies. She was born September 18, 1959 to Calvin Martin and Claudette Lanelle (Duke) Dueitt in Mobile, Alabama. Darla grew up in Citronelle, Alabama and graduated from Faith Academy High School in 1976. She received her Bachelors Degree from the University of South Alabama and her Masters Degree from Spring Hill College in Education. Darla worked as a 1st and 2nd grade teacher in Mobile, Alabama. She married Stan Chmiel in September 2019 in Greeley. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, watching home improvement shows, and she loved animals. She was a member of Destiny Christian Church. Darla is survived by her husband Stan Chmiel of Greeley; her son Todd Tillinghast and companion Brea Chaney of Arvada; her sister Lori Lawley and husband Lane of Alabama; and her step-grandchildren Julie and Abby Sonderegger of Fort Collins, Dash and Danika Chmiel and Elish Arbuthnot, of Greeley. She was preceded in death by her parents. A Life Celebration will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 9, 2023 at Adamson Life Celebration Home. Interment Linn Grove Cemetery.
