Obituary of Cheryl Ann Schneider

CHERYL SCHNEIDER

 Cheryl Schneider’s life was an adventure, beginning February 10, 1945, to her final day, January 28, 2023. She was raised in the caring and loving family of Bill and Myrtle (Hosch) Huckabay with an extended family from Colorado, to Iowa, and Minnesota.

Before graduating from Greeley Central High School in 1963, she was an accomplished concert violinist and roller skate dancer. She was often on a horse, one of Cheryl’s favorite times growing up. Cheryl attended Saint Luke’s School of Nursing/Colorado University. Knowing no bounds and with her unique abilities to learn, she worked among other things as a nurse’s aide, legal secretary, medical transcriptionist, school admin assistant, secretary to Dean of Home Economics, while typing many doctorate level dissertations, to help raise her family.

She was married to Jack Schneider in 1970. Their immediate family is Curt and Tammy Redman of Abilene Texas, Tirza Redman of Denver, Corey Stiefel of Colorado Springs, Steve Schneider, Michael Schneider and his fiancé Judy Lynch of Greeley.

Cheryl and Jack’s journey through life, after getting Jack through college at CSU with a degree in agronomy, included work in Yuma, CO; Sultanate of Oman; Sudan, Africa; Houston, Texas; and back to Greeley. Cheryl enjoyed planning trips to places like Kenya, Germany, England, Malta and Sri Lanka, while living internationally. The families’ favorite Christmas was spent in London, England, celebrating the holiday with several British friends.

After seven years of working and living internationally, Cheryl helped settle the family into a new home near Houston, Texas, where Jack worked in the corporate headquarters of Tenneco’s International Development Department. Cheryl, as she always did, developed many close friendships that last to this day.

When back in Colorado to work, Cheryl and Jack bought an Air Stream Trailer and joined the Walley Bynum club of Denver. They traveled to many campsites in and around Colorado. Cheryl became the secretary of the Air Stream club and received many national awards for her newsletters. One of the more adventurous trailer trips was traveling and camping throughout the entire length of the Baja Mexico with close family friends and her assumed brother, Bob Moon, from London, England.

Cheryl’s lifestyle slowed down after having open heart surgery in 2011. She then filled much of her time by reading many books and organizing a dine-a-round club to eat at different restaurants around Greeley with friends.

Cheryl’s greatest attribute was never being pretentious and she respected everyone without judgement. She even opened her home to several international students who became part of her extended family.  She bids everyone farewell and Godspeed to all. She will be missed by her husband, Jack; brother and sister-in-law, Kermit and Linda Huckabay; immediate and extended families; and friends here and throughout the world.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Myrtle Huckabay.
