James Weimer

Obituary of James Edward Weimer

On Tuesday March 28,2023, James Edward Weimer, 75, went to walk with the Lord.

James was born on December 3, 1947, to Edward and Bertha (Hergenreder) Weimer, he grew up in Kersey, a small-town country boy who was known to be sweet, respectful, and always friendly. In 1965 he graduated high school before being drafted into war where he honorably served in the Army from 1967-1969. He was a proud veteran. For his service, he earned a Vietnam Campaign Medal, Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal. In 1967, he met and married his soulmate Beverly (Champlin) Weimer whom he met on a blind date. She was a city girl but that didn’t stop his country boy manners from winning her over. He was, as she explains, “The sweetest thing she’d ever seen”, they married on November 28, 1967, and together had four children.

He was a man of faith who loved his family and would never pass on an opportunity to spend that time with them, especially his grandchildren. Anyone who knew him knew that he had a passion to connect with people he loved to tell stories and get to know anyone he met. This eventually led him to work as an Uber driver after his retirement as a truck driver, which consisted of 25 years of service. His love of driving as well as friendly personality also led him to become a school bus driver for District 6, and for five years he enjoyed safely transporting the children of this town. To say that he enjoyed meeting people and sharing his life stories is an understatement, it was the way he was able to connect with everyone he met and the difference he made in their lives as well as the difference they made in his.

James is survived by wife, Bev Weimer. His sons; Kevin (fiancé Kelly Hart), Steven (Phillip Higgins-Weimer), Michael Weimer and daughter; Kimberly (Glenn) Cecil. His brother; John Weimer and Four grandchildren; Josh (Tiffani) Weimer, Jordan (Kevin) Lutz, Casey (Brianne) Cecil, Sarah Cecil, and great granddaughter; Paisley Cecil.
