Obituary of Borge Secher Villumsen

Borge Secher Villumsen, 92, of Greeley, passed away Monday, April 3, 2023 at home, surrounded by his family.  Borge was born November 5, 1930 to Frode and Julie (Secher) Villumsen in Viborg, Denmark.  When Borge was 9, Viborg was occupied by Nazi Germany during World War II, and remained under German control for five years.  He graduated from Horsens School of Engineering with a bachelor's degree in Engineering.  He then served in the Danish Royal Army as an officer engineer.  Borge was on the Danish gymnastics team that competed in the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki, Finland.  On August 6, 1956 he came to the United States and went to work for Martin K. Eby Construction Company in Wichita, Kansas.  He later worked for Hensel Phelps Construction for 28 years before retiring in 1991.  He married Judith Norton on May 6, 1961 in Wichita, Kansas.  The couple moved to Greeley in 1964, where Borge was very active in the community.  He joined the Centennial Rotary Club in 1982, served as president from 1987 to 1988, and visited clubs all over the world.  He was also a member of the Greeley Elks Lodge #809.  He enjoyed reading, photography, and traveling in his motor home.

Borge is survived by his wife, Judith; his daughters, Julie Villumsen and husband Walter Tillotson of Greeley, Lisa Wagner and husband Michael Wagner of Bellvue, Colorado, and Lory Villumsen and husband Antonio Ortiz of Palisade, Colorado; and 5 grandchildren, Kelsey, Preston, Chad, Secher, and Loran.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ole Villumsen.

A Life Celebration will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, April 14, 2023 at Adamson Life Celebration Home.  A reception will be held immediately following.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Centennial Rotary Club to be used for scholarships, in care of Adamson Life Celebration Home, 2000 W. 47th Ave., Greeley, Colorado  80634.
