Obituary of Lavaughn "Vonnie" M McCormick

Lavaughn “Vonnie” M. McCormick, 88, passed away on the evening of April 21^st at home surrounded by family.

Lavaughn was born on December 25^th, 1934 in Nebraska to parents Leone Dutch and Dorothy May (Farmer) Russell. She attended Nebraska Junior College after Highschool.

 Lavaughn met the love of her life William “Mac” Francis McCormick in Nebraska, She and Mac moved to California after Mac was drafted into the Army in 1950 and on December 25^th, 1950 Lavaughn and Mac were married.

In 1959, Lavaughn and Mac moved to Sterling Colorado where they lived together for over 40 years. While in Sterling, Lavaughn went to college and received her degree as an LPN. Eventually, Lavaughn took a career as a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal service before she retired. In 2001 Lavaughn and Mac moved to Eaton Colorado.

In 2015, Lavaughn’s beloved husband Mack passed away and a year afterwards she moved to Apache Junction Arizona where she realized she absolutely loved Arizona. Lavaughn lived most of her final days in Apache Junction before moving to Greeley Co. to live with her daughter Tammi before she passed.

Lavaughn loved playing dominos and playing Bingo, she would regularly go with her daughter and grandson to play Bingo. She also loved quilting.

Lavaughn is survived by her son Dave McCormick of Arizona; son Mike (Cindy) McCormick of Arizona; son Lonny (Ernie) McCormick of Kansas; daughter Tammi (Ron) Gemaehlich of Colorado; 9 Grandchildren & many Great Grandchildren.

Lavaughn is preceded in death by her husband Mac, her Grandson Adam, and by her parents.

She will be missed dearly.
