James Todd, Jr.

Obituary of James Hamilton Todd, Jr.

James Hamilton Todd Jr. was born at home on a farm southwest of Galeton, CO on October 21, 1939 to James Hamilton and Louise (Nazarenus) Todd. He was a 1957 graduate of Galeton High School. He left this earth on Sunday, April 16, 2023 to meet Jesus, His Savior, face to face in Heaven.

After high school, he farmed for a time then entered the US Army in 1962 where he was stationed at Ft. Hood, TX. During that time, he was ordered to Germany for Operation Big Lift only to be sent to Dallas, Texas instead where he patrolled the streets immediately after President John F. Kennedy’s assassination on November 22, 1963. He also was on standby in Georgia during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

He enjoyed building and racing cars in Cheyenne in the late 1960s and early 1970s winning first place at times.

He married Donna Jean White on April 6, 1974. They spent most of their married life in Walden, CO. Moose, deer, and antelope often grazed in their yard and the surrounding mountains offered hunting and fishing. Catching a 30-pound lake trout at Flaming Gorge was a highlight in his life. Jim and Donna enjoyed wintering in Arizona for18 years.

Jim, as he was known, was a heavy equipment mechanic and operator for 44 years retiring from Jackson County, CO in 2006 and moving to Greeley, CO in 2022.

Survivors are his wife, Donna; a sister Stella (Jim) Wright and several nieces and nephews.

At Jim’s request, no services are planned and he will be placed among the mountains he loved so much.  Friends may leave condolences at AdamsonCares.com.
