Obituary of Robert LeRoy Doty

Robert LeRoy Doty passed away April 28,2023 at home in Greeley, CO surrounded by friends and family.  He was the fifth child of Ella and John Doty, born on December 15, 1942 in Wagner, South Dakota.  Affectionately known as Bob, he is preceded in death by his parents, his oldest brother Embert (Bea) Doty, brother Ronald (Donna) Doty, brother Gene (Joyce) Doty, niece Shari (Doty) Witt, brother-in-law Marvin Walth, and son Mark Doty.  He is survived by his loving wife Ilene Doty, sister Delores (“Sis”) Walth, son Mike (Mary) Doty, daughter Gail (Ross) Bird, daughter-in-law Sandra Doty, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.   

Bob attended Revina High School, in South Dakota, where he participated in sports, band, and choir, graduating in 1960.  He married the love of his life Ilene Carda, also of Revina High School on October 6, 1961.  They moved to Greeley, CO shortly thereafter and proceeded to expand their family being blessed with 3 children: Mike, Gail, and Mark.

His employment included working for the Monfort Meat Packing Plan where he served as a Union Steward for many years.  He left it to start the Doty Construction Company where he continued until his retirement.  The company sponsored both a little league baseball team and a race car. 

Bob enjoyed many different activities such as camping, boating, jeeping, and hunting.  He shared a love of travel with both friends and family.  Family barbeques at the homestead were a staple for him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Meals on Wheels in care of Adamson Life Celebration Home, 2000 W. 47^th Ave., Greeley, CO  80634.    A Life Celebration will be held 11:00a.m., Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Adamson Life Celebration Home.
