Obituary of Anita Kay LaRue Sherburne

Anita Kay (LaRue) Sherburne, beloved wife, mother, sister, cousin, & aunt, and friend to many, departed peacefully with her daughter by her side on Wednesday, October 18^th. Anita was born in Denver, CO in August of 1946, to Dwight and Rae LaRue. The family then moved to Fort Collins, CO, where she graduated from Fort Collins High School.

After graduation, she attended Northeastern College in Sterling, CO. Anita then worked for the Poudre R1 School District as a secretary. She moved to Denver to pursue employment as an administrative assistant with Service Corporation International. While at SCI, she helped implement LIFT, a program to help surviving spouses adjust to the loss of a spouse.

It was during this program that she met her future husband, David Sherburne, a retired Colorado Highway patrolman. She then accepted a position as an administrator for the Denver Market Association at the Denver Merchandise Mart. Anita and David later moved to Greeley, CO where she resided until her passing.

 Anita is survived by her husband, David of 28 years, her daughter Krista Corral of Greeley, CO, her sister Barbara LaRue of Golden, CO and sister Diane LaRue Fetherolf, of Carlsbad, CA.

Known for her love of family and friends, she never forgot a holiday or birthday, or missed an opportunity to comfort a friend in need. Her pastimes included crochet, knitting, and had an impressive collection of ceramic roosters! David and Anita enjoyed cross country car trips, taking them to national parks, presidential libraries, and other points of interest. Last, but not least, Anita was an avid Broncos fan, hosting many memorable Sunday game festivities.

Anita will be laid to rest next to her parents, Dwight, and Rae LaRue, at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Collins, CO on Monday October 30, 2023.  Her Life Celebration will be held at Adamson Life Celebration Home in Greeley, CO starting at 10 A.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be given to the Alzheimer’s Association
