Obituary of Rachel A. Lira

Rachel A. Lira, 93, of Greeley went to Heaven Thursday, October 19, 2023 surrounded by family.  Rachel was born December 13, 1929 in Lubbock, Texas outside, under a tree to Benito and Antonia (Hernandez) Arias.  Rachel and her farmworker parents lived in multiple places while she was growing up.  She married Joseph C. Lira, Sr. on November 30, 1952 in Sterling.  In 1955 they moved to Greeley.  She was a wonderful mother, and homemaker she raised 5 children with Gods faith and traditional values.  Rachel was a lifetime member of Greeley Assembly of God Church.  In the early 1960’s she worked for Kuners, in the 1970’s she worked for Hungenburg Produce. Rachel created her own housecleaning business serving many historical Greeley families. Rachel was always ready to be of service to others, giving rides to school, and taking people to their appointments. She never hesitated to help others. Rachel loved the outdoors, gardening, roses, fishing, and attending her grandchildren’s’ sporting events with our father Joseph.   She was the first person on her block to shovel her sidewalk and rake the leaves in her yard. Rachel is survived by her children; Veronica Lira, Mary Clark and husband Art, Rita Ruyle and husband Gene, Joe Lira, Jr. and wife Susan and Jesse Lira all of Greeley; her brother Alfredo Arias and wife Deborah of Blackhawk; 16 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her siblings; Benito Arias, Albert Arias, Ernesto Arias, Adam Arias and Aurora Correa, and a great-great granddaughter, Natasha Martinez.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 5:00p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Adamson Life Celebration Home.  Life Celebration 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 27, 2023 at Adamson Life Celebration Home.  Interment Linn Grove Cemetery.
