Obituary of Herbert Rodman Williams

Herbert Rodman “Rod” Williams, 91, of Greeley passed away October 23, 2023 at NCMC in Greeley.  He was born August 13, 1932 in Hutchinson, KS to George Fred and Beatrice Ellen (Tinsley) Williams and grew up on the family farm in Partridge, KS. 

Rod graduated from Partridge High School and earned a Bachelor and Masters from Kansas State University.

He married Sandra Marie Thompson on July 22, 1958 in Prairie Village, KS. 

Rod worked as an Extension Agent for Morton County, KS and was awarded with a State certification. 

He enjoyed camping and fishing, reading and in later years learned how to crochet from Sandra.  He was also an avid gardener and after retiring they began volunteering with the libraries of Shawsheen Elementary School and later Anne K. Heiman Elementary School.  He was a member of the Lions Club and Kiwanis while living in Kansas and they attended the First Congregational Church. 

Survivors include his wife, Sandra and their sons; Chris (Lynne) Williams and Tom (Suzanne) Williams, four grandchildren; Abby Williams, Brisco Williams, Emma Avila, Jessica Bentley and a step-granddaughter, Nicole Briggs, two great-grandchildren, two sisters; Judy Taplin and Cheryl Eiselman and a brother, Kerry Williams.

Rod’s Life Celebration will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Adamson Life Celebration Home with a reception to follow.  Memorial gifts may be made to the “Alzheimer’s Association” in care of Adamson, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634.  Condolences may be shared at AdamsonCares.com.
