Patricia Lesh

Obituary of Patricia Jean Lesh

Patricia Jean Lesh, 83, of Pierce, passed away at her home on October 30, 2023, after a very brief illness. She was born May 18, 1940, in Denver to Dr. Charles Robert and Margaret Christiana (McElhinney) Patterson and grew up in Ault.

Pat graduated from Ault High School in 1958 and Denver University with a bachelor’s degree. On September 13, 1959, she married Lynn Lowell Lesh in Las Vegas, NV. She was always organized and never shied away from taking on more than she could manage. During her life she worked as a CMA at her father’s medical clinic in Ault before moving to Florida in 1978. In Florida, she ran the office of Lesh Drilling, the family business and during that time she also worked as a Real Estate Agent. In 1990, they moved back to Colorado, and she worked as the Town Clerk in Ault before moving on to become the Town Clerk/Treasurer for Severance, CO.

Our mom was a true animal lover; our house was always full of pets which brough her immense joy and comfort her entire life.

Our father was always proud to take my mother out to dinner or on trips, she would never leave the house without looking her best, from her hair to her nails and the clothing she would wear. He would joyfully laugh when someone would mistake my mother as his daughter.

Mom was always up for a challenge; she was a certified Pilot when she was younger and on her first certification solo fight, she had to be diverted to a different airport due to a weather system that suddenly came in but in her true grace was able to handle the situation and land the plane.  Later in life she became a certified Scuba diver, often the family would sail their boat to the Florida Keys and go diving. The family motto has always been “Work hard, play hard” and we did that very well.

Mom would not settle with growing old gracefully, she was a 70-year-old grandmother who drove a brand-new red Ford Mustang with a black racing stripe to work each day. Her years of hard work were finally rewarded. She lived a life of freedom and no regrets, and that’s how she departed from us.

Our dinners were always over the top, our mother took immense pride in her cooking, which in a way was her hobby. She would outfit her kitchen with every gadget imaginable. The number of cookbooks she owned was truly out of hand as well as the number of spices she kept spanning over three cabinets. She spent much of her free time watching the cooking channels and producing innovative ideas for recipes. Her granddaughters were particularly fond of her Grand Marnier French toast.

After Lynn passed away, she struggled with vision loss, but remained remarkably active with the senior centers and most importantly the “Red Hat Club.”  She often expressed how much these groups meant to her. They were her loyal friends who carefully took her to and from her outings, providing one of the few ways she could socialize.

Thankful to have shared her life are her sons; Bruce and Scott (Kristin), four grandchildren; Tiffany, Justin, Jordyn, and Camryn Lesh, two great-granddaughters and expecting another great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Don Patterson, and her husband Lynn, in 2018.

Pat’s Life Celebration will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 10, 2023, at Adamson Life Celebration Home with a reception to follow. Private inurnment at the Ault Cemetery.
