Obituary of Joan C. Cogburn
Joan C. Cogburn, 90, of LaSalle, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2024 at NCMC in Greeley. She was born August 17, 1933 in Greeley to George and Olinda (Mitchell) Brungard where she grew up.
She graduated from Greeley High School in 1951 and married Charles Lee Cogburn on February 26, 1952 in Greeley. He died in 2009.
Joan was a homemaker and farm wife, helping her husband on the farm in Gilcrest before moving to Holyoke in 1975 and then back to LaSalle in 1998.
While on the farm, she had a half-acre plot for her garden where she grew many things that she canned or froze. She also had beautiful flower gardens. In her earlier years, she sewed and did embroidery. Family was the most important to her and she loved taking care of her cats and dogs over the years. She also served as a Girl Scout leader while her girls were younger.
Joan was the glue that kept her family together. She always said how lucky she was to have them, but it really was the other way around.
She is survived by her three daughters; Diana (Willie Kocher) Cogburn, Vicky (Chris) Fillinger and Kim Cogburn, four grandchildren; Randy (Barb) Hayes, Jr., Sarah (Marcus) Chacon, Eric (Brooke) Hayes and Ryan (Josh Valdez) Fillinger, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great, great-grandchild.
