Obituary of James Arthur Alles

James Arthur Alles, 75, of Greeley passed away January 29, 2024. He was born October 9, 1948, in San Diego, California to Willard and Dorothy (Fugate) Alles.

He was a loving, caring husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather. Jim as he was called by all who knew him grew up on a farm outside of North Platte, Nebraska, living with his mom and grandparents.

He graduated in 1966 from North Platte High School. His class was the largest class to ever graduate from this school.

Jim moved with his mom and siblings to Greeley, Colorado in 1966. He entered the Marine Corp in 1966 spending most of his tour of duty in Vietnam. Jim was discharged in 1969 as a corporal. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for bravery in saving many of his platoon.

Jim attended Aims Community College where he received an Associate Degree in Applied Science.

He held several jobs throughout his life, one being the at the Blue Willow Steak House and Lounge. He also worked for Kodak making X- Ray film for many years. He had to retire in the mid 90’s from the Railroad due to health problems. In 1976 Jim married Ruth Ann Mahan. To this union two children were born, Kristen (1978) and Brian (1980).

Jim enjoyed playing poker with his many friends throughout the years. Not sure he was a winner too many times. There was always a great game pf pitch when the family got together. During his retirement Jim was a stay-at-home dad. He loved being with his children. Lots of cartoon watching his favorite being “Sponge Bob”.

 He would later spend time with grandkids watching the same cartoons. He knew every one of those cartoons by heart.

Jim had a strong faith most of his life. He will be remembered for his knowledge and love of the Bible.

Jim is survived by his wife Ruth Ann of 48 years, daughter Kristen Flynn and son Brian (Sara) Alles, all of Greeley. Five grandchildren; Ashton, Madison and Morgan Flynn, Eli and Piper Alles. Great granddaughter Winnlee Flynn. Brother; Robert Alles of San Diego, California; Sister Debbra (Patrick) Heeney of Tea, South Dakota.

Aunt Barb Pelton-Nixon of Chadron, Nebraska. As well as several nieces, nephews and friends.
